EVENT BASICS
The Tampa General Hospital Loggerhead Triathlon, produced by the Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce, is one of Florida's longest-running triathlons. Since 1985, athletes have traveled to Jupiter to compete in this oceanfront race known for its scenic course, competitive field and welcoming atmosphere.
The 2026 Tampa General Hospital Loggerhead Triathlon will take place Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Carlin Park in Jupiter, Florida.

The Transition Area opens at 5:30 AM. Athletes should arrive early enough to park, set up their transition area, complete body marking and be ready to report to their designated starting location by 6:30 AM.
The Triathlon is scheduled to begin at approximately 7:15 AM, once race officials receive clearance from Loggerhead Marinelife Center regarding sea turtle activity and lifeguards confirm that ocean conditions are safe for the swim.
Because this is an ocean swim, the exact start time is subject to race-day conditions and final clearance from race officials.
The Triathlon consists of:
- Swim: 3/8-mile ocean swim
- Bike: 13 miles
- Run: 3.1 miles (5K)
The bike course consists of two laps, and athletes are responsible for completing both laps.
Yes. The Duathlon is available for athletes who prefer not to participate in the ocean swim.
The Duathlon consists of:
- First Run: 1.2 miles
- Bike: 13 miles
- Second Run: 3.1 miles (5K)
The Duathlon is scheduled to begin at 7:21 AM at the north end of the Transition Area. Athletes will begin with the first run before entering Transition for the bike portion of the race.
Duathlon athletes will begin at the north end of the Transition Area and eventually merge with Triathlon athletes entering transition.

Limited Packet Pickup will also be available on race morning; however, due to the number of participants, advance Packet Pickup is strongly recommended.
All participants must present a photo ID to receive their race packet.
For relay teams, all relay team members must be present and provide photo identification before the team's packet can be released.
These requirements are part of USA Triathlon regulations.
No. Race packets cannot be picked up by another person on an athlete's behalf.
Each athlete must personally present a photo ID to receive their packet. All members of a relay team must also be present with photo identification.
Yes. Optional bike check-in is available on Friday, from 4:00–6:00 PM at the Transition Area at Carlin Park.
Athletes must pick up their race packet before entering the Transition Area. Your bike number must be properly installed on your bike before entry.
Athletes must show their corresponding race credentials and photo ID to enter the Transition Area.
Overnight security will be provided. The Transition Area will reopen at 5:30 AM Saturday morning.
The First Timer Seminar is a mandatory briefing for athletes registered in the First Timer Division.
The seminar will be held Friday, August 21, from 5:00–6:00 PM at the Park Pavilion at Carlin Park during Friday Packet Pickup.
The seminar is designed to help first-time athletes understand race procedures, transition, course expectations and USA Triathlon rules. The Head Referee will also participate in the briefing.
Yes. The Wyndham Grand Jupiter at Harbourside Place is offering a special race-weekend rate for Loggerhead Triathlon athletes.
Use the Loggerhead Triathlon hotel reservation link provided on the event website to access the special rate. Availability is limited, and athletes are encouraged to reserve early.
Registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Athletes who cannot participate for any reason may request a one-time deferral to the following year's race. Deferral requests must be submitted through the athlete's RunSignUp profile at least seven days before the race.
A $25 deferral fee applies.

Deferrals are subject to the event's registration policies and deadlines.
RACE MORNING & TRANSITION
The Transition Area opens at 5:30 AM on race morning.
For safety and liability reasons, only registered athletes with the appropriate race credentials are permitted inside the Transition Area.
The Transition Area is fenced and secured. Bike numbers will be matched to athlete numbers before equipment may be removed following the race.
Athletes may complete body marking at home before arriving or on race morning beginning at 5:30 AM. We will also have volunteers on site under the Athlete Oasis and in the Transition Area to assist on race morning.
Using a black marker, write your:
- Bib number on your upper left arm
- Bib number on your upper right arm
- Age on the back of your right calf
Athletes participating in the First Timer Division should also write an “F” above their age on the back of the right calf.
Please follow the body-marking diagram included in the Athlete Information materials.
Your timing chip will be located at your designated bib-number location on the bike rack in the Transition Area.
After crossing the finish line, volunteers will assist with timing-chip removal.
Because of sea turtle nesting, athletes should not enter the beach until instructed by race officials.
Athletes will walk south along the A1A sidewalk to Beach Access 56 and wait for permission to enter the beach.
Please follow all instructions from race officials and volunteers regarding beach access.
SWIM, BIKE & RUN RULES
The swim is a 3/8-mile ocean swim.
Subject to race-day ocean conditions, the course is expected to run south to north, beginning near Beach Access 56 and finishing near Beach Access 62.
Athletes will walk to the swim start and line up according to their assigned wave.
The exact swim course, wave configuration and start procedures are subject to race-day conditions and instructions from race officials.
Wetsuits will not be permitted.
The Triathlon is scheduled to begin at approximately 7:15 AM, subject to sea turtle, ocean and safety clearance.
Race officials, lifeguards and public-safety personnel will evaluate ocean and weather conditions on race morning. Loggerhead Marinelife Center will also inspect the beach for sea turtle activity before athletes are permitted onto the beach.
The swim will not begin until the appropriate safety and environmental clearances have been received. The swim course may be modified, delayed or canceled if conditions are determined to be unsafe. Athletes must follow all instructions provided by race management, lifeguards and public-safety personnel.
The bike course is 13 miles and consists of two laps.
Athletes exit Carlin Park and travel south on A1A toward Loggerhead Park before returning. Turns will be clearly marked; however, each athlete is responsible for completing both laps.
Athletes must obey all course signage and instructions from police, race officials, course marshals and volunteers.
Bikes must be walked or run through the Transition Area. Mount and dismount lines will be clearly marked.
An approved bicycle helmet is mandatory and must be securely fastened before leaving the Transition Area.
Drafting is prohibited. Athletes should maintain the distance required by current USA Triathlon rules. Course marshals will monitor the bike course, and penalties may be issued for rule violations.
All bicycles must also have properly installed handlebar end plugs. Athletes with unsafe or improperly plugged handlebars may not be permitted onto the bike course.
J Town Bike will provide pre-race bike tune-up assistance near the Transition Area.
Athletes remain responsible for ensuring their bicycles are safe, properly maintained and race-ready before entering the course.
The run is 3.1 miles (5K).
Athletes exit Carlin Park and head north toward Jupiter Beach Boulevard, continue toward the Jupiter Inlet and DuBois Park, and return to Carlin Park for the finish.
Athletes should remain to the right except when passing and follow all course signage and instructions from race personnel.
Headphones, earbuds and personal audio devices are not permitted during the race in accordance with race rules.
All relay team members must be properly body marked.
The swimmer wears the swim cap, the cyclist's race number is displayed on the bike, and the runner wears the run bib.
Relay teammates must remain at their designated location near the bike rack until the preceding teammate completes their leg and crosses the appropriate timing mat.
All relay athletes must follow the instructions provided by race officials regarding timing-chip transfer and relay procedures.
WEATHER, MEDICAL & SAFETY
The Loggerhead Triathlon is scheduled to take place rain or shine.
Race management continuously evaluates weather and course conditions. Lightning, thunderstorms, dangerous ocean conditions or other severe weather may result in a delayed start, modified course or cancellation of a portion of the race.
The safety of athletes, volunteers, spectators and event personnel is the priority. Participants must follow instructions from race officials and public-safety personnel.
Palm Beach County paramedics and emergency medical personnel will be onsite during the event, including ambulance support.
Medical and First Aid services will be located near the Transition Area.
If you or someone around you requires medical attention, immediately notify event staff, police, a course marshal or medical personnel.
Immediately notify event personnel or law enforcement.
Event Team Captains will be stationed throughout the site and can help connect you with the appropriate personnel. Police and public-safety personnel will also be onsite.
For an emergency, contact the nearest police officer, medical professional or race official immediately.
PARKING & SPECTATOR INFORMATION
Free parking is available in designated areas at and around Carlin Park.
Parking is available:
- At Carlin Park on the east side of A1A
- In the designated parking area west of Carlin Park
- At the Maltz Jupiter Theatre for later-arriving spectators
Access to the primary Carlin Park parking areas may be restricted once the race course closes. Athletes should plan to arrive early.
There is no shuttle service from the Maltz Jupiter Theatre.
Accessible parking is available in designated parking areas.
No. Spectators are welcome to attend the Loggerhead Triathlon free of charge.
Friends and family are encouraged to come out, cheer on the athletes and visit the event's participating sponsors and exhibitors.
Spectators may begin arriving at 5:30 AM.
Please remember that road access and parking near Carlin Park become more restricted as race time approaches.
Yes. Spectators are encouraged to bring chairs, water and any other items they may need while watching the race.
Please help us keep Carlin Park clean by disposing of waste properly and using reusable or eco-friendly containers whenever possible.
There are limited food trucks or food and beverage vendors with sample items at the race, so spectators should bring anything they may need.
Light snacks will be provided in the Athlete Oasis for athletes and volunteers following the race.
Permanent men's and women's restrooms are located near the Loggerhead Café at Carlin Park.
Portable restrooms will also be available during the event.
Pets are permitted in Carlin Park but must remain on a leash and under their owner's control at all times.
For the safety of athletes, pets should be kept away from the race course and Transition Area.
Bicycle racks are available at Carlin Park for spectators arriving by bike.
Spectator bicycles are not permitted inside the athlete Transition Area.
Please bring the child to the Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce table in the Athlete Oasis or immediately notify event staff or security.
Event security will be notified and assist with reunification.
FINISH LINE & POST-RACE
Yes. All participants who complete their event will receive a finisher medal at the Finish Line.
The Awards Ceremony will take place following the race at approximately 9:00–9:30 AM in the Athlete Oasis.
Athletes are encouraged to stay after finishing, enjoy breakfast and celebrate with fellow competitors.
Awards will be presented to eligible top finishers according to the event's published award categories.
Official race results will be posted following the event on the Loggerhead Triathlon race website under Results.
